On Sunday, August 7 between 11 PM to 8 AM Monday – IST Unified Communications and Networks (Telecom) will be performing wireless network maintenance. There may be brief service disruption during this window for the NJITsecure and eduroam wireless networks.

After this maintenance, Wireless Clients may be presented with a new certificate in order to authenticate. Clients may need to accept the new certificate in order to have wireless network connectivity. In the event that your device does not accept the change, the NJITsecure and/or eduroam wireless profile should be deleted (forgotten) from the client device and added again.

Network Upgrade Maintenance Weston Hall entire building Aug 5-7, 2022 and Aug 12-13 2022

IST Unified Communications and Networks (Telecom) will update and replace the networking equipment in all of Weston Hall and Campbell HCAD areas. This is being done to increase capacity and increase network performance in the building. We will be performing this upgrade On the following schedule:

Date: August 12, 2022 to August 13, 2022

During this scheduled window there will be no WiFi, no wired connectivity and no phone service while the equipment and cables are replaced. The red Emergency phones will not be impacted.

IST will be applying routine operational and security updates to IT systems from 10pm Saturday, August 6th, to 4am, Sunday, August 7th. During this critical activity, many enterprise IT services (e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, TouchNet, Infosilem) will be unavailable. Webmail and Canvas will be available throughout most of this maintenance window, however, you may experience intermittent interruptions. Network access and telephone service will not be affected.

NJIT is experiencing a service disruption with the telephone service due to a circuit failure. Calls dialed from an outside number to a NJIT number may not be received. Calls dialed internally to NJIT numbers are not affected, nor are any calls dialed from a NJIT number to an outside number.

Users of the Cisco WebEx application (mobile and desktop) at this time may experience a service disruption. There disruption includes the inability to send messages to other users, starting a call, and also starting a meeting.

Accessing WebEx from http://njit.webex.com and starting meeting from a web browser at this time is unaffacted. NJIT is working with Cisco to resolve this issue.

A single switch has failed impacting up to 48 connections on the third and 4th floors of Weston Hall. We communicated with staff in the building. Since it is the end of the day and the building is mostly empty and the outage is of minimal impact we will address its replacement first thing in the morning.

Switch Upgrade Maintenance YCEES Building

IST Unified Communications and Networks (Telecom) wishes to replace the networking equipment in YCEES (aka York) 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. This will only impact the original YCEES portion of the building and it will not impact connectivity in the LSEC portion of the building. These upgrades are being done to increase capacity and improve network performance in the building. We would like to perform this upgrade at the end of week starting Saturday, June 25th, 2022 until Sunday, June 26th, 2022.

While the maintenance window covers Saturday and Sunday network outages will only impact one floor at a time (see estimates below).
