On March 3, 2021 Canvas experienced an outage from approximately 4:29 PM – 5:16 PM. They are monitoring performance and will report on a root-cause of this problem.

Networking Maintenance Monday January 25 at 5:30pm
On Monday January 25, 2021, at 5:30pm maintenance will be performed that may cause intermittent network connectivity for 1-5 minutes to the following buildings:
• Micro Electronics
• Tiernan Hall
• Colton Hall
• Faculty Memorial Hall
• Student Mall
• Weston Hall
• ECEC
This maintenance window is needed in order to replace an intermittent cable.

Update: Website Network Outage, 1/21/21
On Friday January 22 6:00-6:10am, network maintenance will be performed. During this maintenance window, access to web services such as Webmail, the portal, Canvas and Webex may be intermittent for 3 minutes. Service will be restored by 6:10am.

Some services may have been intermittent between 11:47 am – 12:08 pm. This issue was caused by a system outage. During this time students, faculty, and staff may have been unable to log into services such as Canvas, Webex, and Pipeline.
NJIT is working to identify the root cause of the problem. More information will be available shortly.
Services are restored – Webmail and Google Workspace – full services outage
Google is experiencing a widespread outage affecting NJIT’s Webmail and related Google Workspace services. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as they’re available.
Scheduled Outage Enterprise IT Service – Saturday, December 5th – Sunday, December 6th, 2020
IST will be applying operational and security updates to several systems from 9 pm Saturday, December 5th, to 11 am Sunday, December 6th, 2020. During this critical activity, many enterprise IT services (e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, TouchNet, Infosilem) will be unavailable.
Webmail and Canvas will be available throughout most of this maintenance window, however, you may experience intermittent interruptions. Academic research services (e.g. HPC, Big Data), network access and telephone service will not be affected.

VPN Server Maintenance Tuesday night 11/24 at 11:59pm – 1am
On Tuesday night November 24 11:59pm – Wednesday morning November 25 1:00am, maintenance will be performed on the NJIT VPN server. During this maintenance window, VPN services will be unavailable for 15 minutes. Service will be restored before 1:00am.

On Sunday night November 1 at 11pm through Monday morning at 1am, IST Core Systems and Telecommunications will be performing maintenance on the campus VPN server in order to install security upgrades.
During this maintenance window, VPN access may be intermittent with brief outages, and one outage lasting up to 20 minutes.

Matlab License Server Down – Update: Back up at 11:55AM
The license server for Matlab, Intel compilers, and Altera isa currently down.

Fenster Hall 5, 6th Floors Network Interruption 9/14/20 9:30-10am
On Monday Sept 14, 2020 9:30am, network service to Fenster Hall 5th and 6th floors was interrupted. Service was restored at 10am.

Wireless Network Maintenance Sunday Sept 6, 2020 7am – 9am
On Sunday morning September 6, 2020 from 7am – 9am, maintenance will be performed on the wireless network. During this maintenance window, wireless network connectivity will not be available for approximately 15 – 30 minutes in the following buildings: Central King Building, GITC, ECEC, Student Mall, MEC, Micro, Tiernan, Faculty, Cullimore and Weston Halls. The wireless network in other buildings will not be impacted.

Kaltura Intermittent Access (8/26/20)
Kaltura is currently experiencing slower performance for some accounts. This may impact viewing or embedding Kaltura videos in Canvas as well as MediaSpace. Kaltura is working to restore full access and functionality. Updates will be posted as they become available.”
Visitor Parking Outage
The visitor parking system will be unavailable on Aug 20th 2020 from 2.15 pm till 3.00 pm for scheduled maintenance. For more information please contact ais@njit.edu.
Wireless Network Maintenance – 08/14 – 7PM to 12AM
After this maintenance, Wireless Clients will be presented with a new certificate in order to authenticate. Clients need to accept the new certificate in order to have wireless network connectivity. In the event that your device does not accept the change, NJITsecure and/or eduroam will need to be deleted from client devices and configure it again.

Part of this maintenance will include updating the VPN certificate. You may lose your VPN connection and may need to restart your VPN client to update the certificate information.

Error about Banner Connection not being secure
Some users have been getting the following error when connecting to Banner Self-Service “Your connection is not fully secure”. This is a known issue and is a result of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 approaching end of life.
If you receive this issue please click advanced and then click on Proceed to bnssbpr1.njit.edu (unsafe). If that does not work please try logging into Banner SSB with the Firefox browser.25Live Outage
25Live will be unavailable on July 18 and July 19 due to a planned vendor outage.
