Student Mall, CKB WIFI Maintenance Tuesday, Wednesday Nov 2 – 3, 2021 at 5am
On Tuesday November 2 and Wednesday November 3 at 5am, maintenance will be performed on the WIFI network in the Student Mall and Central King Building (CKB). During this maintenance window, WIFI access may become intermittent for 5-10 minutes in these buildings.

GITC WIFI Maintenance Thursday, Friday Oct 28 – 29, 2021 at 5am
On Thursday October 28 and Friday October 29 at 5am, maintenance will be performed on the WIFI network in GITC. During this maintenance window, WIFI access may become intermittent for 5-10 minutes within GITC.

Webex recordings not appearing in Kaltura
Please be advised that at this time, there is an outage for the connection between Webex and Kaltura Mediaspace. During this time, your Webex recordings may not appear in your account in either Mediaspace or in Canvas. Your recordings are still available directly in Webex and can be found by logging in to http://njit.webex.com. As a temporary measure, you may share a link of your recording or download the recording and upload it directly to Kaltura Mediaspace until the situation is resolved. A step-by-step guide on how to do this has been made available for your convenience.
We are currently investigating the situation, and provide an update when the issue is resolved.

System Restrictions: COVID Vaccination – 10/4/2021
Update: The issue was resolved at around 8:50 am. We are still investigating the root cause of the issue.
We are receiving widespread reports that students, faculty, and staff are unable to access IT Services due to missing vaccination records. This technology block is being applied/displayed erroneously. We are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. More information will be available in the next hour.

VPN Update: Scheduled Maintenance and Update on Yesterday’s Outage
Scheduled Maintenance: NJIT’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) software will be unavailable on Saturday, September 4 from approximately 11:30 pm – 12:00 midnight. This scheduled outage will allow for software updates that will improve the reliability of VPN.
VPN Outage: There were two VPN outages on Thursday, September 2. The first outage started at 12:46 pm and lasted 12 minutes before service was restored. While the root cause of the problem was being investigated a second longer outage resulted in VPN being unavailable intermittently from 2:12 pm – 3:20 pm . After working with the vendor it was determined that the scheduled maintenance, mentioned above, will prevent future problems.

Scheduled Internet Outage – Saturday night, Aug 14 11pm – 2am
On Saturday night August 14, 2021 there will be a planned campus-wide internet outage. The campus-wide internet will become unavailable starting Saturday night 11pm – Sunday morning 2am to perform scheduled maintenance. There will be three 15-30 minute outages.
During this time, IT services may be unavailable. Campus telephone service will remain available.

Scheduled VPN and Wireless Authentication Maintenance – Tuesday, August 3, 2021 10pm – 2am
On Tuesday night, August 3, 10pm – 2am, planned maintenance will be performed supporting authentication for the VPN and Wireless networks.
During this time, authentication to the VPN and the wireless networks may be intermittent for approximately two minutes.

On Saturday, July 31, there will be a planned campus-wide internet outage. The campus-wide internet will become unavailable starting at midnight for approximately 30 minutes to perform scheduled maintenance.

MyUCID Maintenance
MyUCID Management will undergo maintenance on Monday, July 19th between the hours of 12:00am – 6:00am. MyUCID account and password management will be unavailable during the maintenance window. Other IT services, e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, Webmail and Canvas are unaffected and will remain available.

Webex Outage
On 6/17/2021 Cisco pushed an unexpected update to NJIT’s Webex service. As a result of this update, the following problems have been observed:
- Students, faculty, and staff have been unable to join Webex meetings
- The Webex Meeting application on mobile devices is not working
- Delays logging into Webex
- Webex Events are failing to launch
Cisco is aware of this issue and the Information Services & Technology (IST) Division is working with them to resolve these issues.
In the interim, the following steps have resolved this issue in most cases:
- Uninstall the Webex application on your computer and/or phone
- Restart your device
- Install the latest version of the Webex application
- Start and/or connect to your meeting
Alternatively, Google Meet can be used instead of Webex.

Canvas and www.njit.edu unavailable 6/12/21 2:20-3:35pm
On Saturday June 12, 2021 2:20pm – 3:35pm, network connectivity from the NJIT campus to the campus website http://www.njit.edu and Canvas was unavailable. Service was restored at 3:35pm. The problem was due to an issue with our Internet2 service provider. Our provider is currently researching the issue.

Scheduled Outage Enterprise IT Service – Saturday, June 5th – Sunday, June 6th, 2021
IST will be applying operational, security, and hardware updates to several systems from 8 pm Saturday, June 5th, to 2 pm Sunday, June 6th, 2021. During this critical activity, many enterprise IT services (e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, TouchNet, Infosilem) will be unavailable.
Webmail and Canvas will be available throughout most of this maintenance window, however, you may experience intermittent interruptions. Network access and telephone service will not be affected.

Emergency A/C repairs in the GITC computer room
might require a system shutdown of Lochness and/or Stheno Wed 5/26 or Thur 5/27.
Specifics will be provided as the situation develops.
Wireless Network Upgrades May 24 – June 18, 2021
On May 24 – June 14, IST Telecom and Networks will be upgrading the wireless network. This upgrade will improve WIFI performance within the buildings. During this upgrade, a contractor will replace the wireless access points in the following buildings:
- COLTON Hall
- CAMPBELL Hall
- EBERHARDT Hall
- FENSTER Hall
During this maintenance, the contractor will replace access points in their existing locations. Access to the rooms will be coordinated with public safety if needed.
