Enterprise IT Services Scheduled Downtime
The Information Services & Technology (IST) Division has been actively addressing a recent security issue impacting Microsoft Windows operating systems relating to a high severity vulnerability that places many IT services at risk. Due to the severity of this security issue, IST will be deploying patches to all NJIT managed Windows servers beginning Saturday, April 23 at approximately 9:00PM through Sunday, April 24, 6:00AM. During this critical activity, users may experience intermittent disruptions to enterprise IT services (e.g. Banner, Kepler, DFS). Webmail and Canvas will be available throughout most of this maintenance window, however, you may experience intermittent interruptions. Network access and telephone service will not be affected. Unified Communications Phone System Maintenance – Friday March 18th 2022
On Friday March 18th 2022 from 9pm – 11:30pm, Unified Communications and Networking department will be performing maintenance on Unified Communications Phone system servers. All of the services provided by these servers are redundant and the end user should not see any interruption to the phone service.

Scheduled Wi-Fi and VPN Authentication Maintenance – Monday, March 14 -15, 2022
Planned maintenance will be performed supporting authentication for the Wi-Fi and VPN networks per this schedule:
- eduroam – Monday, March 14, 2022 – 6am to 7am
- NJITsecure – Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – 6am to 7am
- VPN services – Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – 11pm to Midnight
During this time, authentication to the VPN and the WiFi networks may be intermittent for approximately one minute. This maintenance will not impact VPN sessions that are already active.

IST support portal maintenance
Between the hours of 4 PM and 9 PM on Saturday 2/12 the IST ServiceDesk portal (http://servicedesk.njit.edu) will be undergoing maintenance. During this time the portal may not be available. Phone support will continue to be available. Users should call 973-596-2900 to reach the IST ServiceDesk during this time.
WebEx Service Degradation
NJIT is currently experiencing a disruption with Cisco WebEx. At this time users might receive an error when trying to join a room or share audio. Cisco has confirmed the issue and is working on a resolution. If users are having a problem connecting with WebEx please try to connect or host your meeting using Google Meet instead. Potential Service Degradation
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently experiencing an outage of their east coast data center. NJIT services hosted on the AWS platform including Canvas, Maxient, Chrome River for Expenses, Admin Pages, etc. may be impacted as a result of this outage.
IST is continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available.

Outage: Single Sign-on
Update: Access to services was restored at approximately 11:50 PM. The IST Division will continue to monitor the situation throughout the night.
December 13: Starting at approximately 11:00 PM, many services, such as Canvas, Webmail, and Highlander Pipline, became unavailable. While the services themselves are available, people are unable to log into them. The Information Services & Technology (IST) Division is aware of the problem and actively working to restore access. Updates will be provided as they are available.
Highlander Pipeline service outage
On Friday December 10, 2021 Highland Pipeline became unavailable at 10:10pm. Service was restored at 11:15pm.
Maxient Outage
Maxient, which is used by the Dean of Students Office for reporting, is currently unavailable. This is a result of a nation-wide Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage: https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/aws-us-east-1-outage-brings-down-services-around-the-world/
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
Fenster Hall 5th Floor Network Outage Monday 12/6/21 255pm – 350pm
On Monday December 6, 2021 255pm – 350pm network connectivity for a portion of Fenster Hall 5th floor was unavailable due to hardware failure. Service was restored at 350pm.

Scheduled Outage Enterprise IT Services
Saturday, December 11th – Sunday, December 12th, 2021
IST will be applying operational, security, and hardware updates to several systems from 9pm Saturday, December 11, to 11am Sunday, December 12th, 2021. During this critical activity, many enterprise IT services (e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, TouchNet, Infosilem) will be unavailable. Webmail and Canvas will be available throughout most of this maintenance window, however, you may experience intermittent interruptions. Network access and telephone service will not be affected.

Course Evaluation Maintenance
The course evaluation system (Blue) will be down for maintenance beginning at 11:00 PM Friday, November 19 through 4:00 AM on Saturday, November 20. Course evaluations may not be available during this period.
