Cisco Jabber Phone Maintenance – Friday, April 30th 9:00pm – Saturday, May 1st, 2021
Starting on Friday April 30th, 2021 9:00pm, to 11:59pm Saturday, May 1st, 2021 CST will upgrade the hardware supporting the Cisco Jabber phone service. The Jabber service is redundant and your mobile device or PC may see an outage for a few seconds during this maintenance period. The maintenance will not impact office telephones.

Cisco Jabber software Update – April 20, 2021 9:00pm
Starting on Tuesday April 20, 2021 9:00pm, CST will be upgrading Cisco Jabber software, on NJIT managed computers, to address a recently announced vulnerability. During this process your computer will receive an updated version of Cisco Jabber and may require a reboot of your computer.
If your NJIT device does not receive an auto update or you are using a personally owned computer / mobile device, please download and install the updated software package from https://ist.njit.edu/software-available-download#c or from your respective (Google/Apple) app stores.

Scheduled Webex Outage – Friday, April 16th – Sunday, April 18th, 2021
Cisco will be applying updates to NJIT’s Webex Data Center from 10 pm Friday, April 16th, to 3 am, Sunday, April 18th, 2021.
During this maintenance period, Webex video conferencing will continue to work. However, recordings will be unavailable at njit.webex.com and new recordings will not be available until Sunday evening.
Previously created recordings, hosted at mediaspace.njit.edu (Kaltura), are not affected and will remain available.

Canvas Outage – March 25, 2021
At approximately 8:40 am Canvas availability became intermittent. Around 9:00, the outage became more widespread and the service was largely unavailable. Canvas is aware of the issue and as of 9:15 service seems to be restored. If you have any questions, please email servicedesk@njit.edu.”
Scheduled Outage Enterprise IT Service – Saturday, March 20th – Sunday, March 21st, 2021
IST will be applying operational and security updates to several systems from 8 pm Saturday, March 20th, to 2 pm Sunday, March 21st, 2021. During this critical activity, many enterprise IT services (e.g. Banner, DegreeWorks, TouchNet, Infosilem) will be unavailable.
Webmail and Canvas will be available throughout most of this maintenance window, however, you may experience intermittent interruptions. Academic research services (e.g. HPC, Big Data), network access and telephone service will not be affected.

Financial Aid Dashboard Outage March 14th 6pm – March 15th 8am
The financial aid dashboard will be undergoing scheduled maintenance starting March 14th 6 pm until March 15th 8 am.
NJIT portal Highlander Pipeline upgrade scheduled for March 15, 2021 5am – 7am
Brief or intermittent service interruptions may occur between 5am – 7am.
Information Services & Technology (IST) is pleased to announce an upgrade to Highlander Pipeline, the NJIT portal. The upgraded version will improve security by eliminating the need for Adobe flash. This new environment has been upgraded to current versions of the operating system and database.
The portal will be upgraded on March 15, 2021 and will be accessible via http://my.njit.edu/ .
The user interface will remain the same.

Update: Canvas Outage – 3/3/21, 4:29 PM
On March 3, 2021 Canvas experienced an outage from approximately 4:29 PM – 5:16 PM. They are monitoring performance and will report on a root-cause of this problem.

Networking Maintenance Monday January 25 at 5:30pm
On Monday January 25, 2021, at 5:30pm maintenance will be performed that may cause intermittent network connectivity for 1-5 minutes to the following buildings:
• Micro Electronics
• Tiernan Hall
• Colton Hall
• Faculty Memorial Hall
• Student Mall
• Weston Hall
• ECEC
This maintenance window is needed in order to replace an intermittent cable.

Update: Website Network Outage, 1/21/21
On Friday January 22 6:00-6:10am, network maintenance will be performed. During this maintenance window, access to web services such as Webmail, the portal, Canvas and Webex may be intermittent for 3 minutes. Service will be restored by 6:10am.

Some services may have been intermittent between 11:47 am – 12:08 pm. This issue was caused by a system outage. During this time students, faculty, and staff may have been unable to log into services such as Canvas, Webex, and Pipeline.
NJIT is working to identify the root cause of the problem. More information will be available shortly.
Services are restored – Webmail and Google Workspace – full services outage
Google is experiencing a widespread outage affecting NJIT’s Webmail and related Google Workspace services. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as they’re available.

VPN Server Maintenance Tuesday night 11/24 at 11:59pm – 1am
On Tuesday night November 24 11:59pm – Wednesday morning November 25 1:00am, maintenance will be performed on the NJIT VPN server. During this maintenance window, VPN services will be unavailable for 15 minutes. Service will be restored before 1:00am.

VPN Maintenance 11/1/20 Sunday night 11pm – Monday 1am
On Sunday night November 1 at 11pm through Monday morning at 1am, IST Core Systems and Telecommunications will be performing maintenance on the campus VPN server in order to install security upgrades.
During this maintenance window, VPN access may be intermittent with brief outages, and one outage lasting up to 20 minutes.
