It has come to our attention that an unsolicited email has been sent out regarding the State Retirement System, subject line of the email below.
Subject: State retirement system help for New Jersey Institute of Technology personnel
If you have received this email, please do not take any action; this is not a legitimate email from the State Retirement System.
If someone offers you an investment opportunity and claims any affiliation with the State government or NJIT, follow these tips:
Do not trust any contact information or a website provided by someone contacting you with an investment idea when that person claims to be affiliated with the government, NJIT or government retirement plans.
All emails pertaining to your state benefits such as health, dental, and retirement, will always come from the NJIT Department of Human Resources. The State will never email an employee directly; all correspondence from the State will always be mailed to the individual's home address.
Never provide sensitive personal information such as your account number, Social Security number, password, or PIN to any individual or correspondence that you did not initiate.
