Research and Academic Technologies will be replacing the OpenAFS database servers
with commercial AuriStor database servers,

These database servers manage the AFS distributed file system. They maintain data consistency,
access control, and data access by keeping track of the location of volumes and access
permissions.

The AuriStor database servers provide significant improvements over the OpenAFS database servers
in terms of security, capacities, performance, and management tools.

Users may notice a slight latency in response to actions they initiate in AFS, but otherwise
the cut-over to the AuriStor database servers is expected to be essentially transparent to users
