The NJIT Residence Hall Network provides at least one wired port per resident. In rooms with wall mounted access point there are two wired ports available for use on the lower side of the access point.
We would like to remind residents that connecting hubs or switches to the residence hall network is not permitted. The reason for this is that NJIT provides limited number of IP addresses for its residence hall network members. NJIT implemented hub and switch control throughout the residence hall network beginning in the Spring 2006 semester.
Hub and switch control will will block port access until the hub or switch is removed for 15 minutes.
If you need to connect more then one device we recommend using a residential gateway. Only the WAN port on a residential gateway should be connected to the NJIT wired network using a room wall plate. The LAN port should never be connected to NJIT network or an Access Point port. Doing this will activate hub and switch control or interfere with the Access Point.
