The Data Cookbook is a metadata repository which contains information about commonly used institutional data.
Data Cookbook
A business glossary is an essential data governance tool which stores a common data vocabulary shared across the organization and based on stakeholder consensus. NJIT’s business glossary is housed in the Data Cookbook, a central repository of terms, data definitions, metrics, and key performance indicators shared throughout the university. The Data Cookbook contains additional metadata including the Data Classification level and applicable regulatory information, data quality rules, and reference data for key institutional data.
Functional Data Stewards are in the process of adding definitions to the Data Cookbook. Definitions should not be considered official unless they are marked as approved (denoted by a green “approved” logo below the definition name). Once fully populated, the Data Cookbook will increase data literacy and make the processes of sharing and acquiring data knowledge simpler and more accessible for data consumers.
