Data Cookbook
The Data Cookbook is NJIT’s central business glossary, metadata repository, and data catalog. It brings together business and technical information about institutional data so that people can more easily understand what data means, where it comes from, and how it should be interpreted.
The Data Cookbook includes approved institutional definitions for commonly used terms, data elements, metrics, and key performance indicators, along with supporting metadata such as data classifications, applicable regulatory information, data quality rules, reference data, and information about institutional data systems.
By bringing this information together in a searchable repository, the Data Cookbook supports a shared data vocabulary, improves transparency, and helps promote greater consistency and trust in reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
