eduroam @ NJIT

eduroam (education roaming) is a free and encrypted world-wide roaming wireless service at NJIT that allows students, faculty, staff, and visitors from other participating institutions to connect securely to the Internet.

Wired and Wireless Access

To use eduroam, you need a WiFi (802.11b/g/n) enabled device such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, as well as login credentials from a participating institution. eduroam is an Internet2 Net+ service. 

This service is not intended to replace “NJITsecure.” NJIT affiliates should continue to use “NJITsecure” as this permits access to NJIT’s intranet. The “eduroam” SSID at NJIT does not allow access to NJIT’s internal (intranet) building networks but is intended to be a guest network that provides access to the internet and to the publicly accessible subnetworks in NJIT’s datacenter.

How does eduroam work? 

Authenticating to "eduroam” at another institution is similar to using “NJITsecure” except that you have to fully qualify your account name with the domain in the format xxx@njit.edu using your active directory credentials. A Rutgers affiliate authenticating at NJIT would use xxx@rutgers.edu, etc. You do not need to download a client.
