Banner Student, Banner Finance, and Banner HR are the primary administrative information systems for the university’s student, financial, and human resource databases. If you are a faculty or staff member and you need a Banner account, please use the contact list below for obtaining the appropriate access. If you have general questions, please contact the IST Service Desk.

You must create your UCID account before requesting access to one or more of the Banner systems. The three administrative information systems supported on Banner are:

Banner Finance - Financial Records System (Sign onto Highlander Pipeline at, choose the Faculty/Staff Services tab, and navigate to the Banner information area for the form)
Banner HR - Human Resource System (Contact the HR department at ex.3140  )
Banner Student - Student Information System (Click here to download the form)

All faculty and staff have a Banner account; however, not all faculty and staff members will have access to all the systems within Banner. In general, you will need Banner Student, Banner HR, or Banner Finance access only if one or more of the following circumstances apply:

  1. You are a faculty or staff member with a grant or other special funding.
  2. You are a staff member working in any of the central administrative or academic support offices of the university.
  3. You are a staff member helping to manage budgets for a department, grant, or special academic program.
  4. You are a faculty member or adjunct instructor teaching a course or acting as an advisor. Teaching schedules and class rosters are available in Highlander Pipeline ( through the Banner Self-Service link located in the upper left-hand side of the Faculty/Staff Services Tab.

Banner Systems

Banner Finance - Financial Records System: administrative system used for recording and reporting financial information at NJIT, such as budgets, purchasing, accounts payable, etc. Only certain faculty and staff have access to Financial Records System.

Banner HR - Human Resource System: administrative system used for recording and reporting information about NJIT employees including payroll, benefits, compensation, employee relations, employment, health & safety, and time reporting. Only certain faculty and staff have access to Human Resource System.

Banner Student - Student Information System: administrative system used for recording and reporting information about credit students at NJIT including grades, transcripts, financial aid, billing, etc. All faculty and adjuncts teaching a course, advisors, and certain staff have access to Student Information System.

Administrative Banner users (Banner INB) MUST use Java 6 Version 32 or earlier on their Windows PC. For more information regarding this issue and for instructions to install the correct version of Java, please click here.

BDMS is Banner Document Management System, which works with attached software called WebXtender/ApplicationXtender to scan, store, index, retrieve, and archive information such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, financials, and other images.
