3: Will Windows XP or Windows Vista "upgrade" to Windows 7?

Windows XP is incapable of supporting an "upgrade" style installation to Windows 7. NJIT will not support "upgrade installations" of Windows 7 from Windows Vista. Due to numerous hardware conflicts and data corruption that may occur, NJIT will only support clean installations of Windows 7. A clean installation will remove all programs, data, pictures, documents and files.  Before installing Windows 7 on any NJIT computer, we STRONGLY recommend users back up their important data on an external medium such as a network hard drive, USB hard drive, USB flash drive, CD/DVDs etc. Data backup is the responsibility of each user.
