Improvements to NJIT’s High Performance Computing environment
The Information Services and Technology Division (IST) has been working hard this past spring to improve NJIT’s High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure. As such, we are pleased to announce two important updates:
Public access infrastructure for High Performance Computing, using new CPU nodes, is available as part of the Lochness HPC cluster. Compared to our previous HPC cluster, Lochness has faster inter-node networking, a newer operating system, and a more sophisticated scheduler and resource manager.
The improvements to Lochness have allowed IST to officially decommission Kong, our legacy HPC cluster that was first introduced back in 2007. As part of this transition, newer Kong nodes have been moved to Lochness to further improve our HPC environment.
