Classroom Technology Updates for Fall 2021
Media and Technology Support Services (MTSS) has been hard at work updating classrooms for the Fall 2021 semester. An updated list of technology by classroom, including classroom microphones, whiteboard capture, and wired and wireless projection is available on the Fall 2021 Classroom Technologies website.
Classroom Microphones
More than 20 classrooms already had high-quality wireless microphones available for instructors to use. For the Fall 2021 semester, MTSS is installing wireless microphones in over 40 of the largest classrooms on campus. These high-quality systems are individually configured for the unique auditory characteristics in each classroom, and are engineered to provide a good experience for the students even when the instructor is masked.
MTSS will also make portable voice amplification systems available for sign-out to instructors assigned to classrooms without an installed wireless microphone system. Requests for these Classroom Microphones and other equipment can be made online via the MTSS Equipment Request System.
Whiteboard Capture
Kaptivo whiteboards are now installed in 29 spaces across campus. These digital whiteboards allow instructors to record a section of the whiteboard surface just by writing on it as they always have. The resulting PDF document can be shared with students.
Wired and Wireless Projection Connections
Most classrooms have either wireless projection capabilities or are equipped with many standard AV cables to connect your computing devices to the projector. In the few remaining classrooms without these capabilities, instructors will need to bring an HDMI or VGA cable, both of which can be requested and signed out from the MTSS offices in GITC 0300.
Just-in-time Support from MTSS Student Technicians
For the first week of the semester, highly-trained MTSS student technicians will check in on as many classrooms as possible at the beginning of each class time. Throughout the semester any issues affecting a live in-person class can be reported directly to MTSS by calling 973-596-3005.
