10 Holiday Shopping Safety Tips

As the holidays approach, NJIT Information Services & Technology (IST) wants to remind users to be cyber smart when shopping online. Below are ten holiday shopping safety tips.

1. Shop from a secure computer and secure connection.
2. Use trusted vendors and their apps, rather than a link.
3. Don’t fall for “too-good-to-be-true” deals.
4. Plan ahead and don’t be rushed.
5. Keep track of all the details of your order such as confirmation and tracking numbers.
6. Review credit card and bank statements regularly during the shopping season.
7. Use unique passwords and login information for every site you visit.
8. If you don’t receive your order, take action immediately.
9. Check the privacy policy (settings) of the site or app you are visiting or installing.
10. Be on the lookout for scams before you start shopping.
