Java programs, PHP, JSP, and MySQL are currently supported. Students can also run CGI scripts from their AFS account. MySQL is a multi-user, multithreaded SQL (Structured Query Language) database server. Any user with a Highlander AFS account may request access to MySQL by sending an email to mysql-request@oak.njit.edu. For more information on MySQL at NJIT, please visit http://web.njit.edu/mysql.

Accessing Your Homepage

• Log into your AFS account using your SSH Secure File Transfer client. If you do not have an AFS account, please create one here.
  • Host Name: afsx.njit.edu (replace x with 1-36).
  • UserName: your UCID.
• Once you have logged into your AFS account, double click the folder "public_html"
• After opening the folder, locate the index.html file. This file represents your homepage. You may edit this page with any webpage editor, providing you DO NOT change the filename.
  

A security feature implemented in January 2007 on web.njit.edu, as well as other webservers that serve pages from AFS user accounts, may have affected your personal website. Only websites lacking an "index.html" file would be affected.

These websites are stored under your AFS account's "public_html" directory, please see this document for details.

Information On Hosting Audio and Video Files

Audio or video files in AFS user accounts can be served from one Webserver only: harp.njit.edu. The URL used to access your Web-pages that contain audio or video files served from harp.njit.edu is: http://harp.njit.edu/~<ucid>/ (insert your UCID after the ~)
