The following document will show you how to configure your Windows XP computer to become a networked computer at NJIT. This procedure must be completed if you plan to access NJIT computing resources with your computer as described in the Policy for Connectivity and Security for Networked Workstations. Please follow these instructions if the computer is located in your office, a common departmental area, or in a non-lab environment. If you are trying to configure a lab computer, please contact the Computing Helpdesk for assistance.
1. From the Start menu, go into the Control Panel.

2. Double-click System.

3. Click the Computer Name tab.

4. Click Change...

5. In the Computer name: field, enter "yourUCID-PC" *
In the Domain: field, enter "NJITDM"
Click OK.

*If you have more than one computer, add a number after the computer name. For example, your second computer should be named "yourUCID-PC2"
*If the computer is to be used by more than one person, name the computer after the room it is located in. For example: "GITC2315-PC" or "CUL253-PC"
You will be prompted for a User name and Password.
6. In the User name: field, enter "NJITDM\yourucid"
In the Password: field, enter your NJITDM password.
Click OK.

7. Click OK.

8. Click OK.

9. Click OK to close the System Properties. Click Yes to restart your computer.
