Before you start filling out the online application to request academic software, perform the following steps:
- Check the IST Software Download website to find out if the software is available.
- Check if NJIT has similar software available that can be used instead.
- Check the IST Free Software website.
- If the software requested is NOT an open source application, determine if an alternative open source software is available.
For lab software installation requests, make sure that sufficient licenses exist (either from NJIT or from your personal acquisition), and visit the Lab Software Request page.
All new instructional software requests are handled only once a year, before the beginning of the Fall semester. The deadline is April 1. Requests will be reviewed and notification of the decision will be sent by July 1.
