Getting Started with NJIT’s IT Services - Rutgers and Essex County College students

Follow the steps below to get started using NJIT’s IT services.  If at any point you have questions, contact the IST Service Desk.

1.  Claim Your UCID

Every student at NJIT is issued a UCID. Your UCID provides access to most NJIT computing services. Go to and "Claim Your UCID". When you complete the claim process, your active account can be used to access IT services. Note: To claim your UCID, you need to know your 8-digit NJITID. You can get this number from the Rutgers or Essex County College Registrar's Office.

2.  NJIT Email address

Log into Webmail by Google to check your e-mail.

3. Moodle

Moodle is NJIT’s official learning management system. Many faculty supplement their face-to-face courses by posting course materials to their Moodle site.

4.   Information Services & Technology (IST) website

The IST website has information on many of the IT Services offered at NJIT.
