New Faculty Orientation Quick Start card
To get started using the NJIT accounts and services please follow the steps below:
| 1. Complete Human Resources Paperwork | ||
| Complete all paperwork, including an Access to Information and Computing Agreement form. HR will input your information into the Human Resources System in about 48 business hours of receiving your agreement form and the hiring paperwork from your department. Computer account creation cannot begin until all paperwork is in place and information has been entered to HR's electronic system. (973.596.3140) | ||
2. Register for Necessary Computing Accounts |

| Click here to create your accounts. This includes your UCID, Mailhost e-mail and Highlander AFS accounts. You may also request an NJITDM account with an ADM Email, and, if required, an Banner account by contacting the IST Helpdesk at 973-596-2900. If at any point you have questions, do not hesitate to contact the IST HelpDesk for assistance. | ||
3. Update your Campus Directory Listing |

| The NJIT Campus Directory is the phonebook for the university. It allows you to search for the contact information for any member of the NJIT community. You will be able to find the person's email address, phone number, location, and homepage. To update your directory information, visit the Campus Directory page and following these instructions.It is your responsibility to make sure your personal entry contains your correct contact information. | ||
4. Register for the Computing Orientation Workshop |
||
| This workshop will be held every month on a Thursday. In this workshop you will be introduced to NJIT computing accounts and services including Windows domain and internet access, as well as Outlook and Web Outlook. Other computing-related information will be covered as needed. Please contact Jolanta Soltis in Academic Computing Services at 973.596.2925 to arrange the training. | ||
5. Configure Mailhost email forwarding |

Forward your Mailhost email to your ADM email by editing your Campus Directory information and Configuring Email Forwarding. This allows you to use the easier to remember UCID@njit.edu email address provided by Mailhost in addition to the UCID@adm.njit.edu email address provided by ADM. |

6. Setup your personal computer for use with the NJIT computing network |
||
You should have a personal computer for use on campus. To get your computer configured properly for use with the NJIT computing network, contact the IST HelpDesk and have them assist you with scheduling an appointment for a CMF field technician to come to your on-campus location. CMF field technicians are specially trained to properly configure computers for use with the NJIT computing network. This includes:

7. Setup your phone extension and obtain your security code |

8. Keep your personal computer up-to-date |

9. Visit the Information Services & Technology website |

10. Connect to NJIT from home Note: This step is with staff members who wish to work from home in mind. However, any member of the NJIT community can work from home by following these instructions. |

| Through VPN technology, NJIT is able to provide safe and secure access to its computer network from virtually any location around the world. While connected to NJIT through VPN, the same resources available when physically connected to NJIT's computer network become available. Such resources include Remote Desktop, ADM (Exchange) email, and software downloads. | ||
11. Learn about the Virtual Classroom Note: This step is with faculty members in mind, as it offers assistance in bringing new technologies into the classroom. |

| Instructional Technology and Media Services provides equipment for your classroom such as projectors, notebooks, microphones, audio headsets, and many others. To request the use of equipment, fill out this request form. The Virtual Classroom management site also provides faculty members with online tools through the internet in a Virtual Classroom |

12. Visit the Teaching, Learning, and Technology website Note: This step is with faculty members in mind, as it offers assistance in bringing new technologies into the classroom. |

| Visit the Teaching, Learning, and Technology website to learn about the seminars and workshops available to you regarding technology and its integration into your classroom, as well as teaching tools such as Moodle or Higlander Pipeline. | ||
