Highlander Pipeline is NJIT's campus portal. A portal is an entrance to networked information services specific to a person or organization. Similar to an Internet search engine, which gathers information from one location, Highlander Pipeline provides instant access to nearly all information services at NJIT. These services include registration, transcript, financial aid, and billing services, as well as email, seamless integration with WebCT, calendars and special information sites for each of your courses. In the future, student employees will be able to submit their timesheets online through Highlander Pipeline. Details of all the services available are listed below.

Highlander Pipeline is also used for important announcements and other news for the NJIT community. You are responsible for reading current bulletins in Highlander Pipeline. You will have the ability to receive national or global news stories, and in special interest areas of business, finance, entertainment, technology, and others.

Highlander Pipeline is available at http://my.njit.edu. To access Highlander Pipeline, you will need to use your University Computing ID (UCID) and password.

My Pipeline

Announcements

Announcements contain either "Personal" announcements or "Campus" announcements. Campus Wide announcements are general notifications and bulletins sent to everyone. Personal announcements are targeted specifically for you depending on your role at NJIT. For example, if you are a Junior, you may only receive announcements targeted towards Juniors. Similarly, depending on your major, you would only receive announcements targeted towards your major. Both types of announcements are important and you are responsible for reading them.

NJIT Newsroom

The NJIT Newsroom contains news and press releases about events and news items related to NJIT. This section contains not only NJIT internal news, but links to outside sources where NJIT is mentioned, such as The New York Times or The Star Ledger.

My Headlines

My Headlines contains information and news not related to NJIT. By default, you will receive the top three news, entertainment, and sports headlines on the main "My Pipeline" page. The My Headlines page allows you to customize the information you would like to receive. The services provided include news headlines, personal bookmarks, weather, sports scores, stock quotes, horoscope, lottery results, and a Yellow and White Pages search. Each of these services can be customized to your personal preferences. My Headlines is powered by Infospace.

My Courses

The My Courses section provides access to course information for each of the courses you are taking. This section allows you to utilize the course tools for your classes. The course tools include message boards, class calendar, and a chat room. Faculty can include links to relevant web pages as well. Classes using WebCT will be taken to that class' WebCT homepage instantly.

Student Services

Web for Students

The Web for Students section provides access to SIS On-line. SIS On-line allows students to view and/or update addresses, phone numbers, and next-of-kin information. Additional resources allow you to:
- Access information regarding name and SSN changes
- Register for classes
- Display your class schedule, holds, grades, transcripts, and degree audit
- Review your account summary and make tuition payments by credit card
- Review personal and general financial aid information.

Faculty Services

Web for Faculty

The Web for Faculty section allows faculty to view their teaching schedule, class rosters with student names, and addresses, and post grades.

Faculty members can also send bulletins. Information is available at http://ist.njit.edu/bulletin/index.php.

Employee Services

Web for Employees

The Web for Employees section allows employees to view their personal, payroll, and fringe benefit information.  

Staff members can also send bulletins. Information is available at http://ist.njit.edu/bulletin/index.php. 

Alumni Services

The Alumni Services section allows alumni to locate classmates, find NJIT alumni working in a particular business, advertise their own business, submit classnotes for NJIT Magazine, update their personal information, request a transcript, or make a contribution to their alma mater.

Email

The email tool provides instant access to your email account. For students, it will grant you access to your Webmail by Google account. Faculty and staff will be taken to their ADM email account. You also have the ability to retrieve email from other accounts that support either the POP or IMAP protocols. You can find this information along with the incoming mail server from your mail provider. Information for instructors on sending group or individual emails to members of their class can be found here.

Calendar

The Calendar tool provides you with your own personal calendar. You can access your course calendars separately or group all your calendars together. You also have the ability to allow other users to read or write to your calendar.
