As with all MSDNAA/Dreamspark licensed software, support for Windows 8 is only be available from Microsoft. Faculty and students can install Windows if their computer meets the minimum requirements and successfully passes the Windows 8 Upgrade Advisor without ANY problems. 3: Will Windows 7 "upgrade" to Windows 8?

NJIT will not support "upgrade installations" of Windows 8 from Windows Vista or Windows 7. Due to numerous hardware conflicts and data corruption that may occur, NJIT will only support clean installations of Windows 8. A clean installation will remove all programs, data, pictures, documents and files. Before installing Windows 8 on any NJIT computer, we STRONGLY recommend users back up their important data on an external medium such as a network hard drive, USB hard drive, USB flash drive, CD/DVDs etc. Data backup is the responsibility of each user.
