How to Check Your System Specifications

The following steps are designed to help you view your computer's hardware and software specifications. This will be useful when evaluating your computer for software installation.
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Open the run dialog box:
    • Vista and 7 users: Click inside the Start Search bar
    • 8, 8.1 and 10 users: Start at your dashboard
  3. Type "dxdiag" and press the Enter key.
  4. A pop-up window may appear. Click Yes to continue.
  5. The Direct X Diagnostic Tool will open. Inside the System Information box, you will find information on your computer name and model, operating system, processor, and memory (RAM).

Note: Memory is given in Megabytes (MB), 1024 MB = 1 Gigabyte (GB)

If you need help understanding this information, you can click the Save all information button at the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to save the report as a TXT file for future reference.
