Members of the university community can subscribe to Usenet newsgroups as well as local newsgroups. Usenet is a public bulletin board system on the Internet for news and electronic mail. Discussion areas cover every imaginable topic and are read by millions of people all over the world. News.njit.edu supports a subset of newsgroups that are of interest to the NJIT community.An Internet newsgroups client, such as Outlook Express or Netscape is needed in order to read or post messages. A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection is required if you plan to use the news server from off-campus. Users can request that a newsgroup be added to those supported by the news server by sending email to sys@oak.njit.edu.
