NJIT has a rich and heterogeneous computing environment, supporting a wealth of applications and services across many different operating systems and platforms. Because of this, passwords are maintained separately. To facilitate the management of multiple passwords, Information Services and Technology has implemented a password management system that allows you to reset your own password.
If you are unable to access any of your accounts because of a password issue, you can reset it using the Unattended Password Reset (UPR) process. The UPR process will change the password of your University Computing ID (UCID) and the password of any other computing accounts associated with your UCID.
A. If you have not used UPR before or you created your UCID prior to November 2004: UPR requires that you go through a one-time registration process. Please follow these directions to register to use UPR:
In Person:
Visit The Walk-in Helpdesk to fill out a registration form. The Walk-in Helpdesk is located in room 48 of the Student Mall. You will be asked to show photo identification. Once you fill out the form and show photo ID, the Helpdesk staff will issue you a Temporary Access Code. The Temporary Access Code will allow you to access the Unattended Password Reset Process (UPR) for the first time, reset your password, and allow you to reset your password yourself from that time forward.
By Fax:
Fill out the form found here and fax it to 973-596-2905. Once the Helpdesk receives your fax they will call you within 25 minutes of having received it, during normal business hours, to issue you a Temporary Access Code. The Temporary Access Code will allow you to access the Unattended Password Reset Process (UPR) for the first time, reset your password, and allow you to reset your password yourself from that time forward.. Normal business hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
B. If you have used UPR already or you created your UCID after October 2004:
- If you are a student, staff, or faculty member and you have already registered to use UPR, please go to http://mypassword.njit.edu to reset your password yourself, anytime of day or night.
- If you are alumni and you have already registered to use UPR, please go to https://mypassword.njitalumni.org to reset your password yourself, anytime of day or night.
