The extended dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) will impact computer systems. Electronic calendar systems such as Outlook (Exchange) will be affected. The start and end time for online calendar appointments during the extended DST period may be a problem. Phones and other mobile devices may also be affected.
We anticipate appointments that may be impacted will occur during the Extended DST dates. These dates are between:
- March 11, 2007 and April 1, 2007, and
- October 28, 2007 and November 4, 2007.
Carefully review this document so that you can minimize or correct problems. Actions that you need to take depend on your computer’s operating system and whether your computer is centrally managed.
You will need to verify that appointment times in Outlook (Exchange) and other electronic calendars are correct. Variables such as delegates, recurring events and settings on computers sending Outlook calendar invitations impact the accuracy of calendar events during the extended DST dates. These solutions do not insure that all calendar events are correct due to the variables during the extended daylight-saving time periods.
Careful attention should be paid to recurring appointments. You may need to manually correct any discrepancies that the tools provided do not correct on your calendar. Print a copy of your calendar BEFORE Sunday, March 11th to ease verification and manual corrections.
A large percentage of computers at NJIT are centrally managed and therefore will have received a patch to correct most of the problems you will encounter with the DST changes. This does not ensure all calendar events are accurate so please verify calendar events.
