Open Source is a term used to define software in which the "source", or programming code, is made available for
viewing and editing through a copyright license or "public domain" status. This permits users to use, change,
and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or unmodified form.
The menu below offers more information on Open Source software for both the Windows and Mac OS. Linux/Unix has
not been included because a majority of Linux/Unix software is open source.
