Account Creation Guide: New Employees
| |
 |
This guide will instruct you on how to create the necessary computing accounts for the various computing systems on campus. Note: The following steps are required for all faculty and staff members. A UCID must be created prior to attempting any other steps listed here. | | | 1.
 | | Create a UCID. (Adjuncts should fill out this form first.) | 2.
 | | Request a NJITDM account and ADM e-mail account by contacting IST Helpdesk at (973)-596-2900. - NJITDM accounts are used to access most any computer on campus running Microsoft Windows (including those in the public computing labs).
- An NJITDM account includes ADM e-mail, a Microsoft Exchange-based e-mail system with support for collaboration, meeting management, and much more.
| | Note: The following steps are not required for all members of the NJIT community. Check with your supervisor to see whether or not you need to complete these steps. | | | 1.
 | | Highlander Pipeline - If you are a faculty member, Highlander Pipeline is an indispensable resource for classroom management. Using its interface, you can view your class roster, email the entire class at once, have a course specific discussion board, and a live chat room.
- You may already have access to Highlander Pipeline. Visit my.njit.edu and attempt to login using your UCID and UCID password to check.
- If you do not already have access to Highlander Pipeline, contact the IST Helpdesk.
| 2.
 | | Request an ALPHA account by contacting IST Helpdesk at (973)-596-2900. - ALPHA is the primary administrative information systems environment for the university’s student, financial, and human resource databases. ALPHA accounts are issued only to faculty and staff.
-
Note: In general, you will only need an ALPHA account for one of the following reasons: - You are a faculty or staff member with a grant or other special funding.
- You are a staff member working in any of the central administrative or academic support offices of the university.
- You are a staff member helping to manage budgets for a department, grant, or special academic program.
-
You may require additional ALPHA access, to FRS, HRS or SIS. Ask your supervisor if you require access to these systems. - If you require access to FRS (Financial Resource System), the system used for Purchase Orders and Budgeting, contact the Budget Office at (973)596-3126. An FRS ID is typically 4 digits long.
- If you require access to HRS (Human Resources System), the system used for recording and reporting information about NJIT employees including payroll, benefits, personal information, etc, contact Human Resources at x3140.
- If you require access to SIS (Student Information System), the system used for student grades and associated information, contact the Registrar Office at (973)596-3236. An SIS ID is typically 4 digits long.
