Advanced Programming Techniques with MATLAB
Advanced Programming Techniques with MATLAB

This free technical session will demonstrate how you can use MATLAB as a flexible environment for technical computing and application development in engineering, math, and science curricula and research.

When: Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 9:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m.

Where: New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)--Campus Center, Ballroom A

Register: Please go to http://www.mathworks.com/seminars/njitfeb08

Complimentary refreshments.

Who Should Attend: Professors, researchers and students.

Presenter:    Jiro Doke, Ph.D., Senior Applications Engineer from "The MathWorks"

Agenda

9:00 a.m.
Registration Sign-in (walk-ins welcome)

9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
In the first hour, you will see MATLAB being used throughout a complete technical computing workflow, from data access to a formatted report. During the advanced topics session, we will illustrate the usage and explain the benefits of many of the different function types available in MATLAB 7. You will learn how using the right function type can lead to more robust and maintainable code. Demonstrations will show how to apply these techniques to solve optimization problems and make it easier to program GUIs in MATLAB. This session will also provide you with an understanding of how different MATLAB data types are stored in memory. Finally, we will present ways of tackling "large" technical problems in MATLAB.

MATLAB Refresher (Introduction to MATLAB):

  • Analyzing and visualizing data
  •  Interactively developing analysis routines
  • Creating reports for analyses

Advanced MATLAB Topics:

  • How to choose among the rich set of function types
  • How to handle memory efficiently
  • Solving large technical problems
