Academic Computing Services (ACS) is hosting a breakfast/roundtable discussion with MathWorks to discuss strategies geared toward increasing effectiveness of curricular needs using MATLAB. This meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 8:30AM – 10:30AM in 112 Eberhardt Hall. The information gathered will influence both the content that MathWorks prepares for on-campus technical seminars they plan to hold at NJIT and the tools they will develop to help faculty and students expand their knowledge of MATLAB.Each academic chairperson is encouraged to attend and bring up to two department colleagues to enjoy breakfast and participate in the discussion on MATLAB curricular needs. A few discussion questions are included below:
- Is there a core curriculum that is shared by all departments?
- What role does MATLAB play in your department’s curriculum?
- Are there specific topics that you would like to have covered in future seminars?
- What are common skills that all of your users need to have?
Some examples may include: - Accessing data from multiple sources
- Sharing results
- Creating reports
- Building graphical user interfaces
- Solving large technical problems
Please RSVP to Barbara Bowens (bowens@njit.edu, or 973-596-5570) by February 1, 2008.
