E-Mail is an essential aspect of communication for NJIT students, faculty, and staff. All members of the NJIT community are issued an official NJIT e-mail address of the form yourUCID@njit.edu. Students should familiarize themselves with NJIT's policy on e-mail for official communications to students. Faculty, staff, and alumni have alias options for their official NJIT e-mail address. For information, click here.
The default e-mail address and e-mail account for everyone are on the Mailhost system. Students, faculty, and staff have several options as to whether they want to use this default e-mail account, select another NJIT e-mail account, or perhaps have their official NJIT e-mail forwarded to a non-NJIT system.
Students, faculty, and staff have several options as to where they can receive mail sent to their official NJIT e-mail address (yourUCID@njit.edu):
- By default, the mail is received on Mailhost.
- The default system can be changed so that mail is received on another NJIT e-mail system (e.g. ADM, oak, or other).
- The official NJIT e-mail address can forward mail to a non-NJIT e-mail account (e.g. Hotmail, G-mail, AOL, or an e-mail account of your choosing).
Students, faculty, and staff should review the options available to them below and clearly understand how forwarding is set-up in the campus directory.
