Open Source Lab
Open Source Lab

The Open Source Lab (OSL) provides a Linux environment for general-purpose work using the Linux operating system. All of the standard Linux compilers and tools are supported. In addition, the OSL supports OS virtualization - techniques by which a single computer can allow multiple instances of the operating system to run simultaneously, but isolated from each other. This allows students to experiment at the operating system level without affecting other users on that machine, and without being able to affect the core operating system. Each virtual environment can have its own IP addresses, firewall rules, routing table, etc., so that experiments in networking can also be performed.

Use of the OSL is limited to students in courses being conducted in that lab. An AFS account is required for access to the OSL.
