Additional Software Needs
Additional Software Needs

If you require any additional software not on the software listings to support classroom instruction, please read the following guidelines and procedure for requesting the installation of software to the computers in the following labs:
  • Academic Computing Facility (Student Mall)
  • Library Information Commons (Library Main Floor)
  • Gateway Labs (GITC 2302)
  • University Learning Center (Kupfrian Hall Room 200)

Requirements

All software must be Windows XP compatible.

A non-returnable copy of the software and manuals must be provided to Academic Computing to be kept on file. This is necessary in order to properly maintain the software on the PCs. The software must be readily available to Academic Computing for installation no later then July 15th in order to be available for the start of the fall semester and December 15th in order to be available for the start of the spring semester.

A software installation request form must be completed and submitted to Academic Computing with the software at least 3 weeks in advance. This form and the required media, manuals and License should be submitted to Academic Computing, ATTN: Software Installs, Student Mall, Room 41.

Academic Computing will also require a non-returnable copy of the license of ANY software provided for installation on lab computers in order to ensure that NJIT is in compliance with all copyrights and licensing. This license must provide for the software's availability on at least 30 classroom machines. If your department has a multi-user or NJIT site license for the software, Academic Computing will need a copy of it. PLEASE NOTE: If the software is part of departmental courseware, comes with a textbook, or is available for download from a web site, Academic Computing will STILL need a copy of the license that provides for its use in the classroom.

If a copy of the license is not available, then a letter from the software publisher giving NJIT permission to use the software in the classroom for instruction will be required.
