Part One:  Download and Installation

Step 1   Go to www.worldcommunitygrid.org to download the latest grid agent software.

Step 2   Click the download now button.

Step 3   Click on the appropriate download button based on your computer’s operating system.

Step 4   Click Save

           Note:  It is important to SAVE the file in order to complete proper installation.

Step 5   Browse to the c:\temp directory on your local computer, then click the Save button.

Step 6   The World Community Grid Agent will download to the c:\temp directory and the Download Complete window will appear.

IMPORTANT:  Please refer to Step 8 through Step 11 before proceeding with the install.

Step 7    In order to complete the proper installation and registration of the World Community Grid client, the Buffer Overflow Protection must be temporarily disabled.  If you are running McAfee Enterprise Virus Scan 8.0, please do the following:

Step 8    In the system tray (usually the bottom-right of the desktop), Right-Click the McAfee Icon (it is the shield icon with the Red V).

Step 9   Left-Click on VirusScan Console….

Step 10   Right-Click Buffer Overflow Protection, and Left-Click on Disable.

Step 11   Click the Run button to begin the installation.

Step 12   If you see this Internet Explorer Security Warning, click the Run button; otherwise, continue with the next Step.

Step 13   You will see the WinZip Self-Extractor – WorldCommunity GridAgent.exe

Step 14   Once you see the setup window, click Next

Step 15   Select I Accept and click Next

Step 16   Click Next

Step 17   Select T1 LAN or greater and click Next

Step 18   Click Next

Step 19   The Installation will begin….

Step 20   Click Close

Note:  The installation of the World Community Grid client is now complete.  Please continue with Part Two to register the WCG client to the NJIT Team.

Part Two:  Registration of the WCG client

Step 21   Select Click here if you are an existing member to join the NJIT Team

Step 22   Enter the following information in the appropriate fields and then click Login:

Member Name:  njituser

Password:  njituser

Give this Grid Agent a name:  “this field will already be populated with your computer name”; if it is not, enter a name for your computer

Step 23   A similar window will appear confirming your registration.

Step 24 

IMPORTANT:  You must now turn on the Buffer Overflow Protection for McAfee Virus Scan 8.0.  Please refer to Steps 8 through Steps 11.  HOWEVER, in Step 11, click Enable.

The installation and registration of the World Community Grid client has been completed
