Methods to Connect to the NJIT Network
There are four methods of connecting to the NJIT Network, from on-campus and from off-campus, depending on which resources you wish to access. You MUST use VPN to download software from off-campus.
On-Campus Wireless Network: Wireless access is available from all over campus. Laptops and handheld wireless devices will be required to authenticate for complete access. (more info) Public Network Ports: Public network ports, for use with an Ethernet cable, are located throughout the campus, including all classrooms and conference rooms. (more info) Residence Halls: Every student living in the residence halls is provided with high-speed access to the NJIT network. (more info) Office Network: Faculty and staff can connect to the NJIT Network from their office using high speed Ethernet ports. (more info) VPN: Certain NJIT Network services are only accessible from on-campus. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection allows you to "virtually" connect your off-campus computer to the on-campus NJIT Network. (more info) Proxy Services: The Van Houten Library has electronic journals and databases that can be accessed using a proxy service, which acts as an intermediary between your computer and the electronic library resources to ensure security.
