Banner INB Browser Compatibility and Java Configuration

In the summer of 2018 NJIT's campus portal was updated to a newer more streamlined interface.

If you are having difficulty accessing Banner you may need to make these one-time adjusts listed below:

1. Check Browser Compatibility

  • Windows: Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox 52 ESR (Extended Support Release).
  • Mac: Safari.

2. Configure Java 

If Banner INB does not load or you receive a "ClassNotFoundException" error you need to configure Java and/or your browser.

Step 1: Open the Java Control Panel

  • Windows 10: Type "Configure Java" into the search bar  (for more information visit the support site).

  • Windows 7: Click on the "Start" button, click on "Control Panel" and select "Java Control Panel" (for more information visit the support site).

  • Mac: Click on the Apple icon in the upper left of the screen, go to "System Preferences", and select the "Java" icon (for more information visit the support site).

Step 2: Enable "SSL 2.0 compatibility"

  1. Select the "Advanced" tab.

  2. Under "Advanced Security Settings" select  "Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format".

  3. Click "Apply".

Step 3: Add Banner INB to the Exception Site List

  1. Click the "Security" tab.

  2. Under "Exception Site List" click "Edit Site List..." button.

  3. Click the "Add" button.

  4. Enter "", "", "", and "".

  5. Click "OK" and apply changes.

Step 4: Enable Java plug-ins (for Internet Explorer users)

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Go to the Internet Explorer "Tools" menu (the gear in the upper right corner).

  3. Click "Manage Add-ons".

  4. Under "Oracle America, Inc" select "Java Plug-In SSV Helper" and click the "Enablebutton.

  5. Select "Java Plug-In 2 SSV Helper" and click on the "Enable" button.

  6. Click "Close".

3. Delete browsing history

Internet Explorer - Go to the Internet Explorer "Tools" menu (the gear in the upper right corner):

  1. Click on "Internet Options".

  2. Under the "General" tab look for the "Browsing history" section and click the "Delete..." button.

  3. Make sure that the "History" box is checked.

  4. Click "Delete".

Mozilla Firefox 52 ESR - Select "Options" from the "Open Menu" drop-down (three horizontal lines in the upper right corner):

  1. Select the "Advanced" menu.

  2. Click the "Clear Now" button for "Cache Web Content".

Safari - Click on the "History" drop-down menu:

  1. Select "Clear History".

  2. Select "Clear All History" and click on the "Clear History" button.

4. Delete cookies (all browsers)

Internet Explorer 9, 10, 11 (For other browser click here)

  1. Select "Tools(via the Gear Icon) > "Safety> "Delete browsing history...."


  1. Make sure to uncheck "Preserve Favorites website data" and check both "Temporary Internet Files" and "Cookiesthen click Delete.

3. You will get a confirmation at the bottom of the window once it has successfully cleared your cache and cookies.

5. Restart the Browser (all browsers)

  1. Close any open browser tabs.

  2. Log into Banner INB through Highlander Pipeline.
