Replacement of Administrative Information Systems
Replacement of Administrative Information Systems

NJIT has begun the process of replacing current administrative information systems with the latest version of SunGard Higher Education’s student information (SIS), financial records (FRS), and human resource (HRS) systems. The new systems - an upgrade over our existing systems that will no longer be supported by SunGard - will together provide NJIT with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. When completed, we will have a state-of-the-art system that will greatly facilitate the access to and usage of management information. This is a very significant undertaking, and the implementation process is expected to take several years.

Collegiate Project Services (CPS) is working closely with us to develop an ERP Implementation Plan. CPS is an experienced project management firm that specializes in assisting higher education institutions prepare for and implement modern ERP systems. To guide their efforts and coordinate input of the university community, Joe Thompson and David Ullman are co-chairing an ERP Steering Committee. Representatives from a broad range of academic and administrative departments will be involved as the process proceeds.

To begin, two presentations have been scheduled which are designed both to inform NJIT's community of the pending changes and to solicit input with respect to the planning process. Representatives from CPS will lead these sessions at these times:

Wednesday, January 30 10:30AM11:30AM in GITC 3730

Wednesday, January 30 1:00PM2:00PM in GITC 3730

In addition, faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to participate in an online survey that will gather data to be used in the planning process. The survey is available by clicking here, and will remain available until February 8, 2008.

There will be additional opportunities to participate in the implementation process, particularly as the individual systems are developed. Please feel free to contact Joe Thompson or David Ullman with any questions.
