Administrative Systems

Note: NJIT is in the process of upgrading the ALPHA systems. For more information, please click here.

ALPHA is the primary administrative information systems environment for the university’s student, financial, and human resource databases.  ALPHA accounts are issued only to faculty and staff. If you are a faculty or staff member and you need an ALPHA account, please contact the IST Helpdesk.

You must create your ALPHA account before you can request an account on one or more of the systems below. Having an ALPHA account does not automatically grant access to FRS or SIS. The three administrative information systems supported on ALPHA are:

FRS - Financial Records System (Click here to download the form)
HRS - Human Resource System (Contact the HR department at ex.3140  )
SIS - Student Information System (Click here to download the form)

Not all faculty and staff will need an ALPHA account. In general, you will need an ALPHA account only if one or more of the following circumstances apply:

  1. You are a faculty or staff member with a grant or other special funding.
  2. You are a staff member working in any of the central administrative or academic support offices of the university.
  3. You are a staff member helping to manage budgets for a department, grant, or special academic program.

If you have questions on whether you need an ALPHA account, ask your supervisor or department head.  Many typical business transactions can be performed online through web services and do not require direct access to the ALPHA environment. 

ALPHA requires your UCID as the username, but it maintains a separate password from the other computing accounts. Telnet to ALPHA.njit.edu in order to use ALPHA. A VPN connection is required if you plan to use ALPHA from off-campus.

ALPHA Systems

FRS - Financial Records System: administrative system used for recording and reporting financial information at NJIT, such as budgets, purchasing, accounts payable, etc. Only certain faculty and staff have access to FRS.

HRS - Human Resource System: administrative system used for recording and reporting information about NJIT employees including payroll, benefits, personal information, etc. Only certain faculty and staff have access to HRS.

SIS - Student Information System: administrative system used for recording and reporting information about credit students at NJIT including grades, transcripts, financial aid, billing, etc. Only certain faculty and staff have access to SIS.
